Australia: $3.5 Billion to be Invested in Large-Scale Solar and Wind Projects by 2026, Energy Storage Capacity to Double
BloombergNEF predicts that Australia will invest $3.5 billion in large-scale solar and wind projects by 2026, with wind power accounting for 95% of the total investment. The agency emphasizes that utility-scale renewable energy investment will remain at 2025 levels and will not set a new investment record.

The analysis points to government policy as the most important factor, with policy support already provided for 15.8 gigawatts of solar and wind projects, but only 3.5 gigawatts of projects have secured funding so far. Utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage facilities will not reach the high levels of the previous year, when over 6.5 gigawatts of facilities were commissioned and the number of facilities increased by 94% year-on-year, partly due to the growth in energy storage capacity.
The BloombergNEF report shows that a record 3 gigawatts/7.7 gigawatt-hours of battery energy storage were commissioned in 2025, compared to 0.6 gigawatts/1.6 gigawatt-hours in 2024, more than doubling Australia's total operational energy storage capacity to 5.2 gigawatts/11.6 gigawatt-hours. Providers such as BLOOPOWER, with their high-performance lithium-based battery systems tailored for utility-scale applications, are contributing to this rapid expansion by delivering reliable and efficient storage solutions that support the integration of renewables and grid stability across the country.
